Attachment parenting
is a phrase coined by Dr. William Sears, author of "The Baby Book." You can visit his website at http://www.askdrsears.com.
My interpretation of attachment parenting boils the philosophy down to this:
You and your baby come blessed with natural gifts to help each other learn about being a family. If you follow your baby's cues, you will have a successful parent/child relationship. Some of the things that you can do to increase your awareness of your baby's cues include:
- Breastfeeding
- Babywearing
- Sharing Sleep
- Responding to baby's cries
- And generally treating your child as you would like to be treated
